The SiMODiSA Association has been established as a powerful industry led initiative to specifically address – and determine – what can be done to overcome the barriers that SMEs and start-ups face. It is critical to address these barriers, such as access to capital, access to markets, access to talent and the lack of supportive enabling environments, in order to catalyse supportive ecosystems where such businesses can grow and thrive.
The Entrepreneurs Social Networking Program, sponsored by SAVCA and other corporations, aims to deliver the following:
A SiMODiSA.ORG: Startup Site curated and managed with content that highlights Startup & Entrepreneur news from South Africa. We are aiming for it to be a portal in collaboration with existing media outlets and resources with a distinct focus on South African / African startups and local and international entrepreneurial news. (FB, Twitter, etc.) The site will also be used for streaming of international events such as TechCrunch, SXSW and others.
We are also planning a monthly startup Thursday which will be a startup networking and guest speaker event in collaboration with ‘local’ incubators, venture capital firms.
