Entri AdminEntrihub chats to Tanaka (General) Mutakwa, Founder of #NoDaysOff. Tanaka gives an inspirational fix.
Question 1: Does Tanaka have any advice for entrepreneurs?
Tanaka: I'm just gonna talk about the No Days Off lifestyle brand which I think apply to anyone or any business in whatever you doing. I'll just start with consistency I mean everyone knows it's easy to be like a 1 hit wonder or great but then it's really difficult to be consistent. Consistency is the root of all success you don't want to like break the chain. Whatever you're doing, if you got to the gym once or twice and then you hope for success it doesn't really work out but you have to actually go at least like once every day or like twice and twice a week or three times a week and then over a few months you start seeing the success and that applies to anything. Consistency is always key. I also move on to having a long-term mindset. We have this culture now where we expect things to happen like very quickly, like this instant gratification but most great things actually require time. You need to have sort of a long-term view of how things are going so that when you're struggling you always know that there's an end goal you're trying to reach and even when you're succeeding you also know that you need to sort of maintain that and keep going. A long-term mindset is also important. A growth mindset is also one of our values which is you basically believe that skills are not static. Your skills can always be developed and with that when you face challenges you don't get stuck up but you actually embrace them because you know it means you're growing and it means you're learning. Resilience, which is everyone at some point is going to struggle you're going to face hard times so you need to build your resilience. If your resilience is quite strong you don't get broken by the sort of like the difficulties you face but you can actually take them on and push through because eventually to end at some point. Being action biased which is one of my favorite values so there's like also a big culture of talking and saying, "Ah, one day I want to do this or this is my plan", but then you meet up with a person like six months later and they're still talking about the planner they're talking about the new plan. I'm very much for people being action biased and actually just trying out things rather try it out and fail and then see what you learned from there and gone to the next thing. You have to be very much action biased an idea is just an idea right until you actually execute it. It have to be action biased and then the last two is one is passion which is for you to actually be in it for the long game you really have to enjoy it. It really has to be that thing that you think about in the shower. It has to be that thing that you think about when you go for a run. It's thing that you do without having to you think I need to do to get money or whatever it really just basically you enjoy it and you're passionate about it and that's the only way you can. Find that thing, if you're trying to advice for people who are trying to start a business. We try to start a business or something, find that thing that you do without having to think hard about it and to Zone in on that or solve a problem that you have yourself because the usually means other people have it also. That's where the gold is and the last one is belief. Which is believe in yourself because you don't believe in yourself no analysis going to.
