Entri AdminEntrihub chats to Nici Mancini, the Founder of Purple Mosaic Design and Branding.
Nici talks about designing a logo, the colours that you should consider using, the meaning of colours and typographies.
Question 1: What should we consider when choosing colours for the logo?
Nici: You really need to again know what it is that you want to communicate. I'm going to keep driving your marketing strategy as much as I can because a designer can't do anything without that. You would pick colors that are appropriate to what it is that that you do. If you're a tech company you're not going to use pastel colors. You're going to use, you likely going to use punchy colors, strong accent colors on top of dark backgrounds. For instance, if you are a company that specializes in providing services for weddings there you're likely to use softer blush colors on cream backgrounds with different typefaces. You again really need to know who it is that you're communicating with you must know your target market. If you don't know your target market your designers not going to know who you'll talk of market is and they're not going to know where to start. If you get that wrong your brand's likely to fail.
Question 2: Do colours have meaning?
Nici: There's no set guide to what colors mean. It's relevant within your brand. If you're a medical brand and you're choosing colors you're likely gonna want to go with some reds, because red speak for urgency for blood. If you're a medical brand but you're not gonna really pick greens and blues. I mean it's pretty logical I mean you know if you know your brand what's going to be appropriate for your brand.
Question 3: What is typography?
Nici: Typography is basically lettering. Let's say a logo that's made up only of words. These days they aren't that many logos that have a separate little icon. Sometimes it's just a recognizable font that's powerful enough to convey the brand and even that can take an age to get right.
